Facebook NCI Project

This year, Mr Lane’s class are doing their NCI project in Facebook’s European HQ in Grand Canal Dock. Facebook are hosting the class every second Wednesday for 5 weeks where the boys work in groups with Facebook staff on various tasks. Last week, the boys learned all about listening skills as well as going on a tour of the impressive building. We received a very warm welcome from everyone there. We learned that they have staff from over 100 countries working in their Dublin building. They also have great food there!

At the end of the project, each group will interview some Facebook workers and do a presentation. There will be a parents’ night and party when the project is complete. The class hope to do well enough to win an i-pad as a prize for the school.

Thanks are due to Lucy from NCI and Veronica from Facebook for organising everything so well.

Owen’s ‘Human Rights’ Project.

Owen presented his project to Ms Purcell’s and Mr Lane’s classes this week. His project was about Martin Luther King Junior, Nelson Mandela and William Wilberforce.

His presentation was excellent. He worked very hard on researching and designing his poster with Ms Farrelly and Laura and he can be really proud of his work. Well done Owen! Wonderful work!

All the Way from California

Some of you may remember Andrea Lynch from California who taught in the school in 1989. Just before Christmas she dropped into the school with her husband and two sons. She has fond memories of teaching in Ringsend. Andrea was asking for her old pupils Gerry, Colm, Pierce,  Tom, Martin, Ryan, Eric, James (Hooley) and all.

Here’s a photo of Andrea with the usual suspects on a hike in 1989.

Warren does well

The school was delighted to hear that past pupil Warren Behan graduated recently from DCU with  a Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Hons). Warren when he was in the school was the most enthusiastic pupil who took part in all aspects of school life. His parents must be very proud of him. Well done Warren.
