The soccer season is now underway. We have been training since  Autumn and we have a squad of 20 players made up from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes. Unfortunately it is only possible to choose 11 players and 4/5 substitutes for each game so there are a few unlucky players left off the panel at times. We will try to rotate the subs as much as possible so that all 20 players get to wear the school jersey at some stage this season. The school will also try to organise a friendly match or two before the end of the school year. The team has 3 league games this season. We are in FAIS Division 5C. The other teams are Rathfarnham ET, Chapelizod and Monkstown ET.

Results to date:

Game 1. Home V Rathfarnaham:

We enjoyed a comfortable victory in our first competitive match of the year. Ceilim (3), Scott, Dylan and Jake were on target in a 6-0 win.

Game 2. Away to Chapelizod.

We were made to work much harder for victory in our second game. It was a very good team performance in windy conditions in the Phoenix Park. We were 1-0 up at half-time thanks to Scott’s goal and after weathering a storm early in the second half we pulled away from the opposition before the end thanks to further goals from Igor and Ceilim (2).

Game 3: Home v Monkstown ETNS.

On a windy afternoon in Ringsend St. Patrick’s emerged victorious on a scoreline of 5 goals to 1. Ceilim put us ahead midway through the first half but Monkstown soon equalised. Scott scored to nudge us ahead before the break and a further 3 goals from Ceilim in the second half saw us home safely. It was a good team performance. Craig had an outstanding match in goal for us and Ceilim was on fire in front of goal. All 6 substitutes came on and it was great to see these young players playing so confidently. Well done boys.

We are now through to the knockout stages. It has yet to be decided if that will be a quarter-final or semi-final.
