Świąteczna prezentacja
Z okazji zbliżających się Świąt Bożego Narodzenia dyrekcja, nauczyciele oraz uczniowie Naszej szkoły postanowili przygotować prezentację zatytułowaną “Christmas Around Our World”. Wystawa ma na celu ukazanie, jak w poszczególnych krajach świętuje się przyjście na świat Jezusa Chrystusa.
Wszystkie osoby posiadające materiały (pocztówki, zdjęcia, przepisy kulinarne etc.) dotyczące tradycji i obrzędów związanych z celebrowaniem świąt Bożego Narodzenia w Polsce, prosimy o kontakt z sekretariatem szkoły.

WE HAVE AN ACTIVE
Author in the School
Pat Larkin, a past pupil of the school had a distinguished music career as drummer in The Blades and other groups. Pat is also a writer and has written The Coalboat Kids a book of short stories .
The stories are based on events in Pat’s own childhood in Ringsend in the late sixties. The stories centre around life among the working class families and the way the children made “a few shillings” and the trouble this often got them into.
The writings of Pat Larkin are also trips into local history. This is not the history of great events but of life among the ordinary people. Most importantly the characters are pupils in St.Patrick’s BNS.
Pat’s story “The Coalboat Kids” which gives its name to the book was turned into a film in 2007. The film was directed by Graham Cantwell. It was filmed locally, with pupils from the school as extras and featured photos from our school’s archive in the opening scenes.

A few weeks ago Pat read some of his work to the fifth and sixth class and the boys gave their reactions to the stories. They knew most of the places in the stories but Pat had to explain why some places had changed or disappeared forever.
The next week Pat showed the film “The Coalboat Kids” to the pupils. The boys were very interested and thought the film was great.
Then Pat held a writing workshop. The boys wrote their own stories but did not put their names on them. Pat then chose what he found to be the most interesting one which turned out to be Lee’s. Lee then read it to the class and received a prize.

Pat’s music was not always appreciated in his native Ringsend. Look up The Story of The Blades on You Tube.
Mrs Goode says Goodbye
After teaching for twenty five years in the school Deputy Principal Stephanie Goode retired at the Halloween break. During those years Mrs.Goode has been a class teacher, a learning support teacher and home school liaison teacher. It was through her time as junior infants teacher and later as home school teacher that the community of Ringsend especially the mothers got to know and respect Mrs Goode.
- Fifth and sixth say “Goodbye Mrs. Goode”
Everyone in the school community wishes Mrs.Goode a very happy retirement.
Soccer Semi-Final
Our school team are through to the city final after a comfortable victory over St. Benedict’s from Raheny in the semi, played in Ringsend Park recently. Our scorers on the day were Jonathon, Glenn, Darragh, Jordan and Daniel and we now advance to play Scoil Mhuire from Donnycarney in the final. The provisional date for the final is Wed. June 24th at 12pm. Venue yet to be decided. We are going for our third title in a row so we would love to see a big crowd next week to cheer us on against a hotly-tipped team from Donnycarney. Good luck boys!
Rowing Regatta 2009
Beyonce may have been singing in the O2 and the country wondering who would win the elections but the boys and girls were only concerned about who was going to win the Cathal Fleming Shield for 2009. The girls in appropriate fashion rowed their skiff from the Stella Maris Rowing Club. Another big question was would Ciaran row. In the first slide he has just decided to grace the regatta with his participation.
Naturally Ciaran won the final helped by Eric, Amy and Jason to row their boat across the line.
A hotly contested parents race was won by Deirde, Gay, Louise and Alan.
