This year saw the arrival of robotic lego to St. Patrick’s B.N.S. Ringsend. Above shows a model which the boys made. Be sure to watch this space for pictures of more models.
Soccer Champions!
Congratulations to our soccer team who are Divisional Champions for the third time.
We won all of our games by a large margin and all of our players showed great ability, courage, and skill. Each game was played in a friendly and sporting manner and behaviour was excellent throughout.
The Cup and Medals will be presented at Prizegiving Day in June.

Dnia 15 maja 2010 roku, w kościele pod wezwaniem Św. Patryka w dzielnicy Ringsend w Dublinie odbyła się szczególna msza święta, podczas której chłopcy z klasy II przystąpili do Pierwszej Komunii. Conor, Dylan, Stephen, Kamil, Cian T., Joshua, Cian S., Igor, Timothi, Philip, Rhys, Owen i Leon przez ponad pół roku przygotowywali się do tego ważnego wydarzenia ucząc się trudnych i długich modlitw, piosenek oraz choreografi (jak ta do utworu ‘Circle of Friends’). Nauczyciele, rodzina i przyjaciele uczniów przybyli tłumnie na mszę by wspólnie z chłopcami cieszyć się i świetować w tym szczególnym dniu.
Fire Safety – Bezpieczeństwo Pożarowe
W tym tygodniu klasy I i II rozpoczęły realizację projektu zatytułowanego ‘Fire Safety’ (Bezpieczeństwo Pożarowe). Przez kilka kolejnych dni chłopcy wykonywać będą zadania i prace plastyczne związane z tematem bezpiecznego obchodzenia się z ogniem. Zapoznają się oni równiez ze sposobami skutecznego gaszenia różnego typu pożarów.
Jak dotąd w ramach programu uczniowie wykonali śmieszne figurki strażakow, do których dokleili zdjęcia własnych twarzy. Efekty ich pracy przedstawiamy poniżej:
Zoom Ahead with Books
W poniedziałek, 19 kwietnia 2010 roku chłopcy z klas I i II rozpoczęli realizację projektu pod tytułem “Zoom Ahead with Books” prowadzonego przez Panią Helen Sherry.
Każdy chłopiec otrzymał granatowy folder, w którym znajdują się kredki oraz zeszyt.
Zasady uczestnictwa w programie:
– uczeń musi wybrać osobę, która zostanie jego “Book Buddy” (“Książkowym Przyjacielem”) i będzie brała czynny udział w realizacji projektu.
– w każdy poniedziałek uczeń otrzyma książkę, którą powinien przeczytać wspólnie ze swoim “Książkowym Przyjacielem”
-następnie, w zeszycie znajdującym się w folderze, chłopiec rysuje obrazek dotyczący fragmentu książki, który najbardziej mu się spodobał. Tę samą czynność wykonuje “Book Buddy”
– we wtorek nauczyciel sprawdza zeszyty i ocenia pracę ucznia i jego “Książkowego Przyjaciela”, po czym wymienia książkę na nową.
-wtorkowy wieczór chłopiec i jego “Book Buddy” poświęcają na lekturę nowej książki oraz wykonanie swoich rysunków.
– w środę rano nauczyciel ocenia obrazki
Zakończenie projektu planowane jest na 15 maja 2010 roku.
Wystawa prac odbędzie się 2 czerwca 2010 roku w godz. 9.00 – 9.30.

Easter in Poland
The forty-days period of Lent starts after so called “Śledzik” or “Ostatki” – the last Tuesday before Lent. On Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent, people go to church and ash is sprinkled on their head.
Holy Week starts with Palm Sunday when people go to church with branches of small palms, called in Poland “bazie”. Every year in some places there are contests on the most beautiful or the longest palm.
On Good Friday, which is a celebration of Jesus’ crucifixtion, people are not allowed to eat meat. On Easter Saturday the Christians take baskets full of coloured eggs, ham, sausage, bread and cakes and go to the church to have the food blessed. In the basket there is also salt, pepper, horseradish and a butter lamb. Everything is decorated with branches of cowberry.
On Easter Sunday all families gather at the traditional Easter breakfast. They eat blessed food, a lot of ham, sausages, eggs and cakes. The traditional Easter cakes are “mazurek” and “babka”.
Easter Monday is connected with the old Polish custom “Śmigus Dyngus”. That is why Easter Monday is also called “Wet Monday” because people pour water on each other which supposed to bring them health, beauty and fortune. It is the last day of the celebration of Easter in Poland.
Quiz
Dnia 10 marca, w siedzibie National College of Ireland odbył się quiz, w którym wzięli udział uczniowie Naszej szkoły. Chłopcy z trzeciej i czwartej klasy dzielnie reprezentowali St. Patrick’s BNS. Storzyli oni trzy drużyny o ciekawych nazywach : ‘The Easter Bunny Egg Heads’ (zdobywcy pierwszego miejsca), ‘ The Smart Little Leprechauns’ (3 miejsce) oraz ‘The Kinder Brainers’.
Sposród szesnastu ekip biorących udział w quizie aż dwa zespoły z Naszej szkoły znalazły się na podium!!!
Zarówno uczestnikom zabawy, jak i wychowawczyni klasy pani Purcell SERDECZNIE GRATULUJEMY!!!
Soccer Season Starts
Our first game on Tuesday March 23rd was away to St. Gabriel’s, Cowper St. and we had a great start to the season. Following a fantastic team performance we won 8-0 with goals from captain Glenn (2), Daniel L, Paul, Shane, Jason, Keith and our youngest player Ceilim. All 16 players played at least half a game and our debutants from 3rd and 4th classes enjoyed excellent first games for the school.
Less than 24 hours later we kicked off our Pegasus Cup match against Scoil Colm from Crumlin, a school 3 divisions above us. It was a wonderful , sporting game full ofgreat attacking play from both sides. Despite falling behind early on we eventually emerged victorious on a scoreline of 3-1. Captain Glenn (2) and our main striker, Daniel L scored our goals. Paul Fox was our star performer on the day with a tireless running display and Robert made a truly amazing save at the end .
The Quiz

The quiz was in the NCI. When you got there you had to sign your name in. The quiz started. The man asked us to sing . There was six rounds. There was eight questions in a round. In the first round we got eight out of eight. Then I got a biscuit.

At the quiz there was loads of schools. There was tea, coffee and biscuits. There was six rounds and eight questions in each round. Our team’s name was ‘The Smart Little Leprechauns’. We came 3rd. The G.N.S. got the best name. The people who came first were from this school. Their name was ‘The Easter Bunny Egg Heads’. They had 43 points and “Mary and Adam” and Cuba’s team had 41 points. We had to write the answers on a sheet. There was loads of drinks on a table. The quiz was on in The National College of Ireland. My mam went to support me.

On the 10th of March there was a quiz for all the schools in Dublin. It was on in the NCI that’s the National College of Ireland. Our teacher walked most of the boys. They had to get there at 3.15 and it was over at 5.30. So we got there. There was six rounds but we had to write our team’s name on the top of the sheet. Dorian, Aaron, Aaron M.D., Cian and Ceilim were on my team. Our team was ‘The Kinder Brainers’. We had a few minutes before it started. The man said to go inside now. There was 16 teams. There was 3 out of St. Patrick’s. The first round was about books, Maths, Sciance, Animals. It ended. My team got 40 points. We came 4th. ‘The Smart Little Leprechauns’ came 3rd. They were from St. Patrick’s and the 1st place was ‘The Easter Bunny Egg Heads’ from St. Patrick’s. They got a 20 euro book voucher. Then we went home.
