The football season will begin in February. We have entered a team into the 11-a-side League and Cup competitions as well as the national 5-a-side competition. A squad of nearly 30 boys from 3rd to 6th classes have been training since Halloween in preparation for the new season. We have a few ‘friendly’ games arranged for the coming weeks. On Thursday, January 23rd, we will play Sheriff St. in Ringsend Park on the small Astro pitch. Then the following week we will play them again on their pitch. We’ve also arranged a trip to Ronanstown for the week after to play some 5-a-side matches there using the players who don’t make the first team squad. It is a reward for all of the younger children who have been training so well this year.
Mr. Booth has begun Hurling training as the school gets ready for the start of the Hurling league in Spring this year. We hope to build on some good performances last year and also to introduce some new, younger players to the team this year.
