UN Global Goals Gender Equality Play
The boys and girls from 3rd and 4th classes in the boys’ and girls’ schools had a fun afternoon trying different sports under instruction from some of their classmates. The idea was for the boys and girls to try out sports they would feel less comfortable playing due to their gender. The day was a great success and everyone gave their all. Thanks to Ms Walsh for planning the event and Mr Lehmann for helping organise things.

The beat goes on…
Monday was drumming day in the school and every class got to participate in a percussion workshop with our two guest drumming experts. It was a loud but great day. The boys loved it!

Trip to Tipp!
Mr O’Rourke’s class had a brilliant day out on his farm in Tipperary last week. The boys were welcomed by Tom, Terri and family and had a fantastic day experiencing rural life. The boys got to visit an old farmhouse and see old artefacts, paint with potatoes, build walls, run through meadows, do an assault course with bales of hay and straw, ride in a trailer, feed hens, pet calves, lambs and ponies, hammer nails, play football, ride in a horse and trap, drive go-karts and make butter. What a busy day!
Then they were treated to a delicious dinner of shepherd’s pie or bangers and mash. Thank you so much to Mr O’Rourke and his family for their wonder
ful kindness.

Art Attack!
Mr Lane’s class took part in a very exciting art project in conjunction with the RHA and their guest artist Bassam Al-Sabah. We visited his studio to see some of his creations. Then Bassam came to our classroom on two consecutive days to work with the boys to produce their own creations. Using cardboard cylinders and tape to construct a frame, the boys, working in small groups, added clay to the frames to produce amazing robots, monsters and warriors based on Bassam’s original work. Here are some images of the artists at work.

Grandparents’ Day
Wednesday March 22nd was Grandparents Day in our school.
Perhaps some of the grandparents may remember when these photos were taken and and the people in them.

Joe Scully playing the accordion

This was taken at a Teachers V Parents football match in 1974.

This was taken about the same time. No prizes for recognising the girl second from left.

And you must recognise the girl in the white top. Don’t bother about the boys they were from a visiting German school.

Witness the fitness!
On Thursday January 19th, Mr Lehmann took over the school hall to put the boys through their paces in his version of Operation Transformation Bootcamp. The boys were ‘burping’, skipping, planking, hopping, squatting, running and lunging for twenty minutes in a fantastic workout, all organised and supervised by Drill Instructor Donal who must be exhausted after his day. The boys all threw themselves into the exercises and had a great time despite the hard work involved. Let’s hope they keep it up in their spare time.
Here are some of the 3rd and 4th class boys in action:

Carol Service
On Tuesday evening at 6 pm we had our annual Christmas Carol service in the parish church.
The church was packed with mammies, daddies, brothers, sisters, aunts, grandas and of course the people who run Ringsend the nanas.
They came to hear and see their best boy sing with his schoolmates. All the teachers, Fr.Ivan and Fr.Dan were very proud of the way the boys performed. New teacher and past-pupil Mr.Kelly did a wonderful job on the sound and lighting.
Great Ringsend Christmas Bake-Off
Mr Lehmann, a team of volunteers and 21 hungry boys took up station in the Home Ec. room in Ringsend College yesterday to bake some festive treats. We made mince pies and other tasty fare. The boys had a fantastic time. Thank you so much Mr Lehmann (aka Jamie Oliver)
for all the hard work you put in. We loved our pies!
Wallabies meet Mr.Lane’s Class
On Thursday the Australian rugby team were training in the Sportsco Gym. As they were leaving the gym they had the honour of meeting Mr.Lane’s class who were just finished their swimming lesson.
Israel, Rory, Henry and Tatafu took the time to have their photo taken with the boys and Ms.Farrelly. The Wallabies are very big and very friendly but we wouldn’t like to meet them in a match all the same.
