Ballet Lessons
1st, 2nd and 3rd classes had ballet lessons today with Stephen from Ballet Ireland. They were exhausted after the lessons but had a brilliant time. Ballet is brilliant for strength, balance, coordination and concentration and the boys really enjoyed it.

Special Classes and New School Hall update
As you may know, the department of education has sanctioned the building of 2 new special classes and a new shared General Purposes Hall on the site of our existing sports hall. There will also be 2 special classes built there for the girls’ school.
Both schools are currently considering tenders for the project and we hope to have concluded that process in the coming days. There is no exact timeframe given for when the project will be completed but we have been told to expect it to take anything from 2-3 years from this point.
We will keep you posted on any and all developments as this exciting development takes shape over the coming months and years.
Update: Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Building Services Engineers and other professionals have been chosen and meetings have taken place with the Design Team which is chaired by Oppermann Architects. The first phase will involve ground surveys and while that is going on the design team will continue to work with the schools on delivering the best possible design for the children who will use the finished facilities. We will keep you abreast of all developments as the project starts to progress.
The new school year
The school staff members are working away preparing the school for the arrival of the boys next week. We open on Thursday August 26th. We are looking forward to seeing everyone but we will reserve the biggest welcome for the new boys in Junior Infants. See you soon.
Building News
In September 2019, St Patrick’s Girls’ National School and our school made a joint submission to the Department of Education requesting to open ASD/special classes on our shared campus. We are delighted to announce that the Department of Education has now approved our project to demolish our existing PE hall and rebuild to include 4 ASD/special classes with a new PE hall on top. This will be 2 ASD/Special classes for the boys’ school and 2 ASD/Special classes for the girls’ school. Anne, (Principal of the boys’ school) and myself are now working to appoint a design team to include an architect, a civil engineer, a quantity surveyor and a building services engineer. We will keep the community up to date with progress re our joint project. We do not yet know when the construction work will begin and when the classes will be ready to open. Many thanks, IanĀ

Active Schools Week
This week, the boys have been playing outdoors, visiting the park, going to the playground and receiving coaching in cricket, hurling and football as part of Active Schools Week. Please encourage the boys to exercise at home in order to keep their fitness levels up after Lockdown.
Reopening
It has been brilliant to have Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd classes back this week. We have missed the boys so much and it is so lovely to hear their happy voices echo around the place again.
We look forward to seeing the older boys return soon.
