Pupils of the month: October

As usual, each teacher had a difficult task to choose the boy who had made the biggest effort, showed the most improvement, overcame the most obstacles, displayed the most kindness or showed the best manners when it came to picking their pupil of the month. Well done to all of this month’s winners pictured below….Harry, Theo, Logan, Ethan, Alexander, Dylan and James.

September Pupils of the Month:

Well done boys for being picked by your teachers for your great work, effort and behaviour during the month of September. The teachers had a difficult task as so many boys had been in contention for the prizes on offer but there could only be one winner per classroom – except in the case of Ryan and Darragh!

Digital Learning

We have purchased new tablets, ipads, chromebooks, headphones, electronic whiteboards and storage cabinets in order to further roll out digital learning throughout the school. The boys are busy working away on google classroom, seesaw, mathswhizz, spellings for me, AR, MyOn and other platforms on a daily basis. Thanks to the teachers and especially Mr Kelly for being the driving force behind this.

10 at 10

11th of October 2019……….

All of the classes in St Patrick’s BNS took part in 10 at 10.

We all went to the back yard to exercise. The girls school were doing it too. They put on some songs like Shotgun, Roar and some other songs .We started off with some waving of our arms in circles, both small and large. After that we were running on the spot quickly. High knees in the air and jumping jacks, followed by squats, boxing and moving our necks around in very small circles. Next we did the plank where you stretch your back
(it hurts). After it we were tired, wrecked and sweaty. We do 10 at 10 for physical education and to keep our bodies and minds fit and healthy.

Trip to Airfield Farm

It was a very long ride. When we exited the bus we were greeted by our tour guides. We went into their cold, small house where they told us the rules of the farm. Then we set out to visit the chickens. We were able to feed the chickens. I had a pain in my hand for the rest of the day because they pecked me 10 times. Next we went to visit the goats. There is a special goat, whose name is Billy. He was born when his mother was very sick and spent most of his time indoors with humans. But now he is healthy and he has a daughter. They told us that billy got his ear stuck in the fence and instead of waiting like a good goat he ripped his ear and now he has a scar. Later we went to visit the cows. The record for cow milking on this farm is 30 litres. They are milked by machine. After that, we visited the pigs.

Fun fact jellies are made from pigs’ hooves.

The pigs pen was vile. The oldest pigs were 7 months old and the youngest were only a few weeks old. Next we went to the flower garden where we looked at greenhouses and edible flowers. We went inside to get some food. We had eggs from the chickens, milk and butter from the cows and bread from the bakery. They made their butter from turning a lever and a little hammer. We enjoyed Airfield Farm.
